The CAM Maths site is structured with schemes containing a series of sub-schemes and sub-schemes containing a series of posts. Essentially the vast majority of pages are posts which can be edited using a blog-style text editor. Some HTML can also be included, for example iframes.
Schemes are essentially the things which appear on the Scheme dropdown menu, for example the A scheme. Admin users can create new schemes here too by clicking New scheme +. Sub-schemes are the strands that sit within a scheme, for example ANum1.
There are a few settings for schemes which can be amended by editing schemes or when new schemes are created. The first is the scheme of work checkbox which essentially enables it to appear in the "Scheme" dropdown. This is here because the site is set up to be used by external people if we're ever ready! Let James know if you're ready to do this!
Schemes and sub-schemes both have a description option which just appears at the top of the page when viewed.
Posts are essentially just HTML which is stored on the database. You can use the text editor which works like a blog, or write in HTML by clicking the < > symbol in the editor. Not all HTML is allowed but some things, e.g. iframes which are useful for embedding GeoGebra files, videos or PDFs, are permissible. Some instructions for writing posts are below.
The website is essentially a wrapper for the Catalogue. You can link items from the CAT Maths Resources site using the hyperlinks described above. One thing which makes them work better is deleting everything which comes after the question mark on the link generated from the Catalogue (including the question mark):
https://catrustorg.sharepoint.com/.../place%20value%20basics.pptx?stuff%20you%20don't%20need
This generates a download rather than opening the file in most browsers.
All trust maths teachers have access to the files. Only a limited number have editing rights: these are controlled by Jonathan Bowers currently but ask Katie Slusar-Fletcher if you think you should be able to make changes.
Any member of staff can log in using their school username and password. The Microsoft checks the credentials and then logs the user in. Users can be updated to superadmin status by going to the admin section. The password etc is set via the Microsoft directory so the only useful setting here is the superadmin checkbox. This gives them editing rights on the website, but not SharePoint which needs to be done separately (see above).
PDFs can be embedded using Google Drive. Unfortunately this isn't possible through OneDrive for Business. Currently the A level scheme of work is embedded through this account. To embed a file, you need to open the file in Google Drive and then click the three dots ⋮ to open in a new window. Once viewing the file in a new window, click the three dots ⋮ again and then click Embed item.... You can then post the iframe HTML into the HTML section of the post editor by clicking the < > symbol. The file's sharing permissions need to be set to "Anyone with the link".
Sharing resources externally could also be achieved through this although it would be worth speaking to James to discuss other options too.
Details for logging into the CAM Maths Google account can be found here .
Backups of the website are made daily and stored for 7 days. If you delete something you really need then get in touch with James asap!
